Scratchings

To test the appearance of various html elements, this sample page was created. This summary is created with small tags as well as strong tags.

This is a regular paragraph. Nothing special, just a block of text. In future articles, paragraphs will be a path to enlightenment, entertainment, and maybe, humor.

Here is a blockquote that should be indented and highlighted with a pale background tint. Also, there should be a solid vertical bar to the left in a darker hue of the background color.

Below the previous blockquote and above this paragraph is a para tag with a non-breaking space.

Important! Break tag placement IS CRITICAL. Place a break tag at the end of a line and the next line will be properly leaded, or spaced. If you put a break tag before the next line, the gap between that line and the one above will be more akin to a paragraph tag. (You’ll also note that I’ve placed a color tag for red around Important at the head of this para. I also bolded the word.)

This is a blockquote with italics. We’ll see if it looks acceptable. This normally would be used to quote someone but we may choose another way to indicate that.

Below is an unordered list. It is NOT set off with blockquote tags:

  • Baguette
  • Cheese, preferably French
  • Fresh radishes
  • Fresh apples
